Resolution
Resolution describes the detail of a digital image, indicating the amount of the dots or pixels that the image consists of. A digital image with a resolution of 600 pixels per inch (ppi) contains 600 dots in a one inch horizontal line. Monitor resolution is also measured in ppi, while printer resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi) and halftone screen resolution in lines per inch (lpi). The higher the resolution, the better the image quality. See also: Pixel
RGB
Computer monitors use red, green and blue (RGB) light to project colours. When all three primary colours are combined at full intensity, they produce white light. Depending on the intensity of the combined red, green and blue light, many other colours can be obtained. The colour palette most commonly used on the Web consists of 216 RGB colours which are found in both the Windows and Macintosh system palettes. In webpages, the individual colours are expressed as hexadecimal values. See also: Hexadecimal
